Dramatic surveillance footage posted Saturday shows the car bomb blast that killed a “traitor” security official in occupied eastern Ukraine earlier this month.
Askyar Laishev, a former Ukrainian security official who joined the Russian-backed Luhansk People’s Republic as head of intelligence in 2014, was killed by Ukraine resistance forces in Donbas on Aug. 11.
Laishev made it out of his car following the powerful blast, but died in hospital a few days later, according to Ukraine’s National Resistance in the region.
“We emphasize once again that collaborationism is harmful to your health, so every traitor has vain hopes that retribution will not come to him,” the National Resistance said in a statement.
The newly released surveillance footage shows Laishev’s car blow up in Shevchenko Street, in the city of Staroblisk, in Russian-held Luhansk, which fell under Russian occupation last month.
