The Tri-City ValleyCats rallied from an eight-run deficit to take the lead with a 10-run surge between the sixth and seventh innings, but the New York Boulders tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, then went ahead for good in the bottom of the eighth to take an 11-10 win on Saturday in Pomona.
Down 8-0, the ValleyCats scored six runs in the sixth — highlighted by Carson McCusker’s three-run home run — and four in the seventh to take the lead, but the Boulders immediately tied the game on Max Smith’s two-run homer in the seventh, then took the lead on Jake MacKenzie’s RBI hit in the eighth.
Tri-City (49-38) got two men on with two out in the ninth, but McCusker struck out swinging to end the game.
The teams wrap up their three-game series Sunday at 4 p.m.
