Keanu Reeves crashes British couple’s wedding reception

He left a British couple thrilled when he rocked up at their wedding on Monday in Northamptonshire.

But it seems Keanu Reeves – the bride’s ‘crush’ has made quite the name for himself as a celebrity wedding crasher, having pulled the stunt not once, but twice in his very own kooky style.

The Hollywood actor, 57, crossed paths with customer sales rep James Roadnight, 35, and Nikki, 34, who works with dogs, on their big day because he was staying at their four-star hotel, where rooms begin at £266-per-night and reach up to £495.

But back in August 2018, Keanu – whose film catalogue includes 2018’s Destination Wedding – photobombed couple Moray and Maura as he stumbled across the pair on the sidewalk after their New York City ceremony.

Slanj Kitlz – who produced the groom’s outfit – wrote on Twitter at the time: ‘Best #Wedding Picture EVER! Moray & Maura recently got hitched in New York and were #photobombed by a rather scruffy chap passing by.

‘We think Moray looks way better than #KeanuReeves in his stylish @slanjkilts. Modern Inglis #tartan #kilt and Midnight Blue Crail kilt outfit!!’

Then in September of that year, he turned up at the three-star Dream Inn in Santa Cruz, California where he surprised bride Leslie and her husband Jarrod, whose mum Darlette is a ‘huge’ fan.

Darlette told ABC: ‘To have him there was just the icing on the cake so to speak! I was just like, ‘I can’t believe it’s Keanu Reeves, right there.’

‘He was just so sweet, the nicest person. We walked in, he was in his motorcycle gear having a drink and coffee or whatever and we interrupted him and he was so gracious.’

On Monday, Nikki and James’ reception was one to remember as the Matrix star came to celebrate shortly after the the couple said ‘I do’ after the groom bumped into him at the bar. 

Is is thought that Formula 1 fan Keanu is staying at the lavish hotel while working on a documentary about the racing league for Disney+. 

Nikki told Newsweek: ‘My husband saw him in the bar area and told him he’d just got married and invited Keanu to come over to say hello and have a drink with us if he wanted to.

‘He was very friendly and said he would later on. We didn’t know if he would or not but it was cool that my husband had spoken to him!’

She explained that her husband has seen him earlier in the hotel bar area and asked him to join them.

Wedding guests were thrilled as the star took the couple up on their offer, giving them an extra special day. 

She said: ‘He was so kind and friendly and congratulated us on our wedding. He was kind enough to do some pictures and our wedding photographer was able to capture some too! Then he took the time to speak to some of our guests and have more photos done!’ 

The pair, who met on a dating app and have been together two-and-a-half years, said having Keanu turn up at their wedding was the ‘cherry on the top’ of their special day.

Speaking on their honeymoon from Crete, Nikki said: ‘I was blown away. Keanu Reeves is my favourite film star so if I could have picked anyone to meet it would be him.

‘For it to happen on my wedding day was out of this world. He held my hand, gave me a cuddle and said congratulations – it was just surreal. At the time my bridesmaid had been fixing my dress when somebody from the venue said there’s a special guest outside.

‘I walked into the courtyard and there he was. Keanu Reeves was at our reception. I think I blurted out some words like ‘welcome to our wedding, my name is Nikki, do you want a drink?’ He said he’d had a long flight and politely declined before spending about 10 or 15 minutes having photos with us all.

‘Towards the end there was a bit of mob of fan girls swarming around and I even said ‘do you want me to help escort you out?’ He said it was fine and continued to make time for everybody – he was just the sweetest guy.

‘He was just so humble and kind. I got the impression he was genuinely happy to be there too. He didn’t have to come over but he went out of his way to do so and it’s something we will remember forever.

‘I am such a massive fan of the Matrix films, I have watched them over and over and I had a crush on him in the Speed films too, what girl didn’t? My late uncle who couldn’t be with us was a huge fan of his so it was quite fitting Keanu turned up, he would have loved it.

‘We have friends in Florida and our wedding pictures have been on the news over there. We are just normal people, things like this don’t happen to us, it’s all been very bizarre.’

James added: ‘Earlier in the day I was at the bar and a member of staff said Keanu Reeves was staying. So me being me, I went out to the beer garden where he was having a pint to introduce myself to him. I shook his hand, told him it was my wedding day and said it would be great if you could come to the reception later.

‘I said my wife would love to meet him and that he couldn’t miss her because she was the one in the big white dress, and he laughed.

‘He said congratulations and was just wonderfully friendly and down-to-earth. I told him there was no pressure, and not to feel obliged to, but the offer was there if he wanted a drink with us. He said he’d see what he could do but he was just about to have his dinner so I went off and thought nothing more of it.

‘We carried on with the evening and I was on the dancefloor when our wedding photographer told me we had a VIP outside. I was so happy he came, it was just the cherry on the top of an already magical day.

‘He spent lots of time having photos with us but also our guests. He was just so humble and was such a normal guy. But he still had this big presence and personality of a film star, he just had that special aura which he has in his movies.

‘We love the Matrix and all the John Wick films. My mother-in-law got everyone to shout ‘Speed’ when she took their photos That was pretty funny as it’s obviously one of his older films, still a good one though. He was a top bloke and we were so grateful he gave his time up for us to make our big day that even more memorable.’

Keanu is believed to be staying up in Northamptonshire while working on a documentary about Formula 1 for Disney+.

The Hollywood star is reportedly hosting the untitled four-part docuseries, focusing on F1 managing director Ross Brawn, and has already begun conducting interviews.

Former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo and drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello are on board, Variety has claimed.

Keanu stunned customers after going for a boozy dinner at a pub in Northamptonshire village on Friday.

The Matrix actor walked into the The Fox and Hounds, in Charwelton, where he happily mingled with punters and posed for photos.

Landlord Danny Ricks said he had to do a ‘double take’ when the film star entered and sat down at a table with six other people.

The 57-year-old ate a vegetarian Caesar salad for starter followed by a main course of falafel – washed down with ‘quite a few double whiskies’.

Danny said: ‘It was bizarre. I had to do a double take when he walked in as I couldn’t quite believe my eyes. I thought ‘that guy looks quite a lot like Keanu Reeves’.

‘He sat down with six other TV people, I couldn’t really hear what they were discussing but it all about filming and scripts.

‘He was just a lovely, down to earth guy and was really nice to everyone. Everything nice you would think about him was all true.

‘He stood and took photos with customers and staff. Nothing was too much for him, he took plenty of time to chat to everybody.

‘He had the caesar salad and a falafel dish and he got through quite a few double whiskies as well. He certainly likes his whisky.

‘We managed to stay professional until the end of his visit but of course we had to get a picture with him.

‘It’s not every day you get a Hollywood star walk into your pub. It made everyone’s evening. He was such a top bloke and absolutely lovely.’

According to the Independent, it turns out that this isn’t the first time that the actor has crashed a wedding.

Back in 2018, he photobombed a couple who had just got married in New York City.

The snap was shared by the groom’s kilt maker, who wrote: ‘Best #Wedding Picture EVER! Moray & Maura recently got hitched in New York and were #photobombed by a rather scruffy chap passing by. We think Moray looks way better than #KeanuReeves in his stylish @slanjkilts.’

The Matrix Resurrections action star Keanu has officially signed on to star in his first major TV series Devil in the White City seven months after being ‘in talks’ on the project.

The evergreen 57-year-old is scheduled to begin filming his role as real-life Chicago architect Daniel Burnham in Hulu’s 2024 limited series next year.

Burnham designed several famous buildings – including the Flatiron Building in Manhattan, Union Station in Washington, DC; Selfridges in London, and Chicago World’s Fair in 1893.

It’s at the Chicago World’s Fair where Burnham crosses paths with serial killer H. H. Holmes as depicted in Erik Larson’s 2004 non-fiction book The Devil in the White City. 

It has not yet been announced who will portray Holmes, who was building his infamous ‘Murder Castle’ at the same time of the Chicago World’s Fair aka World’s Columbian Exposition.

Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio – who optioned the book in 2010 – will executive produce The Devil in the White City alongside his frequent director, Oscar winner Martin Scorsese.

Three-time Oscar nominee Todd Field (Little Children, In the Bedroom) will direct the series overseen by showrunner Sam Shaw (Castle Rock, Manhattan).

Keanu currently voices Gotham City vigilante superhero Bruce Wayne/Batman, who adopts a shelter dog Ace (Kevin Hart), in Jared Stern’s DC League of Super-Pets.
