Husband stabbed wife to death before committing suicide in Cape Cod home

A murder-suicide is under investigation after police were called early Friday to a home in Hyannis, Massachusetts.The Barnstable Police Department responded just before 3 a.m. to the home on Murray Way after receiving a call reporting an assault inside the home.”Upon arrival they found two bodies deceased and the investigation is ongoing,” Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe said.Officials identified the pair as Aline De Lima Ferreira De Castro, 38, and her husband Luiz Castro Jr., 44, both of Hyannis. The evidence suggests that Luis Castro Jr. killed his wife with a knife and then hung himself, officials said. Two children, ages 7 and 11, were home at the time. Officials said the children were removed from the home and are in the care of the Department of Children and Families.Officials said the incident was isolated to the residence, and there is no danger to the public. Neighbors said it is not the first time they’ve seen police cars in the area. “It’s really not a bad neighborhood,” neighbor Caitlin Judge said. “It’s just, like, a lot of crime is always going to happen. It is just sad what’s going down over there.” The incident remains under investigation by the Barnstable Police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office.
