Carabao Cup to remain on DAZN in European territories and Canada as EFL also agrees

DAZN has extended its exclusive broadcast partnership for English Football League (EFL) coverage in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH), Spain, Italy and Canada, as well as securing additional rights for Japan.
The two-year deal, agreed with the EFL’s overseas sales partner Pitch International, includes rights to the second-tier Championship, as well as the bottom two English soccer divisions, and the Carabao Cup knockout domestic cup competition.
DAZN’s rights are exclusive in the DACH region, Japan, Canada and Spain. In Italy, five Carabao Cup will be fixtures are being shared with other networks.
Pitch has also agreed a new two-year deal for EFL rights with BeIN Sports that covers multiple territories in the pay-TV operator’s global network. In addition to its home Middle East and North Africa (MENA) territory, the deal also covers Turkey, France as well as markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
In line with the DAZN deal, the contract covers all competitions under the EFL’s watch, with rights to show 180 per season.
In February, Pitch added two more years to the five-year sales contract it signed with EFL ahead of the 2017/18 campaign. Under the previous deal the agency provided guaranteed average annual returns of US$32 million.
