The next Tory leader will play a key role in Brexit negotiations moving forward, but who do Express.co.uk readers think it should be?

Outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson remains the most popular among Express.co.uk readers as the Conservative Party leadership contest reaches its final stages.

Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak are now going head to head to become Tory leader. 

In a poll that ran from 10am on Monday, August 22, to 9am on Thursday, August 25, Express.co.uk asked readers: “Who do you think would be the best Tory leader?” 

A total of 9,663 readers responded with the vast majority, 71 percent (6,865 people) answering “Boris Johnson” as the best Tory leader.

“Liz Truss” came in second place with 16 percent (1,590 people) of readers backing her. 

A further six percent (539 people) said “Rishi Sunak” would be the best leader.
